Creating Private Messages

Go to Message > Create at the top of the page. You have 3 options:

  • Email
  • Save To File
  • Save To Wallet

Option 1: Email

  • Authentication Options - Authentication Options Options include "Glide Card", "Input Box", "Token". The Guest Token can be configured by the Qwantum Member to enable the Function of "Email Private Message". When the Guest Token is configured this way, it will allow a non-Member to create a Private Message where the recipient is the Qwantum Member. No other email address may be used or substituted. This gives the Qwantum Member the ability to share a Guest Token with another party for their use to create a Private Message for the Qwantum Member to receive.
  • Email - In the Email input box, enter the email address of the desired recipient. Multiple email addresses can be entered if separated by a comma (,).
  • Subject - In the Subject input box, enter a Subject that you would like to include with the email.
  • Message Expires - In the Message Expires input box, the default is Never. If you want to set an expiration, enter the number of Days to Expire.
  • Form Options - In the Form Options input box, choose None (default), Key/Value, or Custom.
    • Add Key/Pair Values - Key Pair Values allows the user to build a dynamic form where the data in Column 1 is considered a Key and the data in Column 2 is considered a Value.

      Example:

      FIRST NAME JOHN
      LAST NAME SMITH
      EMAIL JOHN.SMITH@EMAIL.COM

This allows the user to build a custom form that can be used to collect information, make it private, and allow an authorized party to decrypt it in the future where it can be presented as clear-text, comma-separated values. The CSV data can either be copied and pasted or downloaded as a file.

    • Custom Values - Choose Number of Columns: Choosing the Number of Columns allows the user to build a dynamic form where the data in Row 1 is considered a Key and the data in the subsequent rows is considered the Values.
    • Example:

      FIRST NAME LAST NAME EMAIL
      JOHN SMITH JOHN.SMITH@EMAIL.COM
      MARY JONES MARY.JONES@EMAIL.COM

This allows the user to build a custom form that can be used to collect information, make it private, and allow an authorized party to decrypt it in the future where it can be presented as clear-text, comma-separated values. The CSV data can either be copied and pasted or downloaded as a file.

If you wish to add a Message Shared Secret, choose "System Generated Shared Secret" or "Custom Shared Secret". A System Generated Shared Secret is considered very strong and will be sent to you with the Private Message Created Receipt. Copy and paste to send it to the receiving party.

    Helpful Hints

Saving a Private Message Token to the Apple Wallet

The Apple Wallet is a convenient way to easily organize and access Private Message Tokens. Private Message Tokens contain a hyperlink that can be clicked. Clicking it will auto-launch your default browser and load your Private Message Token into the browser. This greatly simplifies the process of using a Private Message Token. It is ideal for easily referencing short amounts of text such as URLs, usernames and passwords.

Saving a Guest Token to the Apple Wallet

The Apple Wallet is a convenient way to easily share, organize, and access Guest Tokens. Guest Tokens contain a QR code that can be scanned and a hyperlink that can be clicked. Both will auto-launch the default browser and load the Guest Token into the browser. This greatly simplifies the process of using a Guest Token.

Saving a Member Token to the Apple Wallet

The Apple Wallet is a convenient way to easily organize and access Member Tokens. Member Tokens contain a QR code that can be scanned and a hyperlink that can be clicked. Both will auto-launch your default browser and load your Member Token into the browser. This greatly simplifies the process of using a Member Token.

Using a Guest Token to Create a Private Message

A Guest Token can be configured by the Qwantum Member to enable the Function of "Email Private Message".

    Session Timeout

Qwantum Private Messaging does not follow a typical Login/Logout paradigm. There is no static username and password. Instead, certain actions require dynamic authentication of a user and their credential to start a web session (Glide Card or Member Token). A web session will automatically close after 30 minutes of inactivity. Alternatively, you can click the Logout link on the main navbar under Session. If the web session expires or is logged out, the user will be prompted to re-authenticate and any data previously typed on screen will be erased. The purpose for following this model is to limit the risk of leaving an idle browser session open to compromise.

Plan to Create Your Qwantum Private Message

To create a Qwantum Private Message, you must first authenticate. Once you successfully authenticate, the browser session will begin, and the session timer will start. Compose your Qwantum Private Message and be sure to complete the process. If you become delayed and allow the session to timeout, you will lose your previously typed data and also be required to re-authenticate.

Fast and Easy – Short to medium size messages

If you wish to send a short message, for example, a few key ideas that you are not ready to share with the world, use the QPM workspace. It is the fastest and easiest way to send and receive a Qwantum Private Message Token.

    Pre-Formatted Messages

Start your message in Word or Excel. Cut and Paste your work into the QPM workspace. If you wish to add a photo, Cut and Paste a photo into the QPM workspace after you have added the Word or Excel material.

    Attach A File

Start your work in your favorite application. PowerPoint, Excel, or Word are good starting points. Optionally, convert it to a PDF. Optionally, add a watermark to the file. Once you have the file complete, begin your introductory message in the QPM workspace. Then select, choose file, and navigate to the attachment you wish to include. Then email or download the message and the file. Always a good idea to do this before you store a file in the cloud.

    Multiple Files at Once

Prepare your files and Zip or Binder them. Then, select choose file and attach the Zipped file.

    Prepare A Screenshot

Begin your Private Message in the QPM workspace or use your favorite application. Add all the elements you want onto the screen. Take a screenshot. Cut and Paste the Screenshot into the QPM workspace. Add the initials of the recipient in translucent ink.

    Download for Your Own Use

Prepare a Word or Excel document. Select Download and save the Private Message Token inside the document.

    Additional Folders in Email

Add one or more folders in your email and write a rule to sort your Qwantum Private Messages. Or manually move your Qwantum Private Message emails to the desired folders.

Store Your Member and Guest Tokens

After you have entered a MEMBER or GUEST TOKEN into your browser, check the box below to cache it until the next time you need to use it. If you do not check the box below, you must reenter the MEMBER or GUEST TOKEN on next use. Remember, Member Tokens always require a second authorization of a QPM Phone Code sent to your phone.

Create and Store A Member Token for Mobile Use

If you want the convenience of creating Private Messages while on the go, create a Member Token that you keep on your mobile device (phone or tablet).  Whenever using a Member Token, you will receive a QPM Phone Code texted to your Mobile #.  This is used to ensure you authorize the use of the Member Token.

Find a Good Location for Your Qwantum Reader

For best results find a place to anchor your Qwantum Reader. Use the adhesive strips that come with the reader or something like crazy glue. Make sure there is plenty of room at either end of the reader so you will not bump into anything with the card or your hand when you glide. If you are right-handed, the right side of your monitor is a good spot. Left side – if you are a leftie.

    Keep Your Card Handy

It is a good idea to take your card with you, especially if you have more than one Qwantum Reader. Your wallet or phone case is a handy spot.

Save Qwantum Private Messages and Encrypted File Attachments

If you want to save Qwantum Private Messages and Encrypted File Attachments to your computer, tablet, phone, or in the cloud, we suggest that you create a common Folder and give it a name such as Qwantum. Beneath Qwantum, you can create additional sub-folders where you can organize and store the Qwantum Private Messages and Encrypted File Attachments by the folder name and folder management structure of your choosing. This will allow you to easily View or Decrypt Qwantum Private Messages and/or Encrypted File Attachments when you need to view them in the clear. Keeping the data "Qwantumized" is much safer because the data cannot be Viewed or Decrypted without Gliding a Card or using a Member or Guest Token to securely decrypt the data. When done, simply close the session and the clear-text data will be erased. Please note that if the clear-text data is saved, captured, printed or stored outside of the protection of Qwantum Private Messaging, the data is vulnerable.

    Examples of Folder Management

Create a Folder named Qwantum. Beneath Qwantum, create sub-folders named "Driver_License", "Passport", "Vaccine", and "My_Passwords". Under Message/Create/Save To File, create separate Qwantum Private Messages where you save pictures of your Driver's License, your Passport, your Vaccine Card, and your favorite, difficult to remember Passwords. Save the .qpm.txt files and optional .qtm files in each of those folders. Next time you need to access the clear-text data, simply go to Qwantum Private Messaging and go to Message/View From File. Choose an option to Authenticate and securely View or Decrypt the data. For security, we recommend that you not leave decrypted data in these folders. If the Qwantum Private Messages and Encrypted File Attachments are stolen, they cannot be decrypted without access to your authentic Qwantum Card or a genuine Member or Guest Token.
