What is Qwantum Media?

Qwantum Media is a division of MagTek®, Inc. that supplies cards, tokens, readers, developer tools and applications, including Qwantum Private Messaging, to commercial enterprises, governments, financial institutions, merchants, and any party committed to safer online transactions.

Do I need a Membership?

Yes, if you want to be able to create and share Private Messages.

How can I sign up and become a member?

Go to our online shop and sign up today. You can purchase a Welcome Kit which includes your Qwantum Card, a Qwantum Reader and your membership dues for the first three months. After the initial three months, you can choose to pay your membership dues on a monthly or annual basis. Membership dues will be automatically charged to your credit card each billing cycle.

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. Please email your request to cancel your membership to QwantumMediaSales@magtek.com. The cancellation will take effect prior to the start of the next billing cycle. Please remember, if you cancel your membership, you will not be able to decrypt previously encrypted messages or files.

Can I re-start my membership?

Yes. Please email your request to QwantumMediaSales@magtek.com.

Do I need a Qwantum Card?

Yes, if you want to be able to create and share Private Messages.

Do I need a Qwantum Reader?

Yes, if you want to be able to create and share Private Messages.

Can I send a Private Message to myself?

Yes, you can send a Private Message to yourself.

Can I send a Private Message to a non-Member?

Yes, you can send a Private Message to a non-Member, but you will also need to create and send a Guest Token that they can use to authenticate their access to view the clear-text Private Message. Guest Tokens can be emailed or texted. Guest Tokens can be sent by email to multiple recipients by separating their email addresses with a comma (no spaces). Guest Tokens can be sent by text/SMS to multiple recipients by separating their mobile numbers with a comma (no spaces). Guest Tokens can also be restricted to decrypt a specific Private Message by Transaction ID.

Can I View a Private Message if I am not a Member of the Qwantum Club?

Yes. The creator or sender of the Private Message can create and share with you a Guest Token that can be used to authenticate your access to view the clear-text Private Message. Guest Tokens can be emailed or texted. Guest Tokens can also be restricted to decrypt a specific Private Message by Transaction ID.

Can I Create a Private Message if I am not a Member of the Qwantum Club?

Yes. A Qwantum Club Member can create and share a Guest Token that can be used to authenticate your access to Create a Private Message. When the Guest Token is configured this way, it will allow a non-Member to create a Private Message where the recipient is the Qwantum Club Member. No other email address may be used or substituted. The Qwantum Club Member can configure the Guest Token for one-time use or more.

If I open a Private Message with a Guest Token, can I Reply to the sender of the Private Message?

You must use a Qwantum Card or a Member Token to directly Reply to a Private Message.

Can I open a session and perform one or more transactions during the session?

Yes. When a user authenticates access using a Qwantum Card or a Member Token, the session will remain open allowing the user to perform one or more transactions without having to re-authenticate.

How do you close a session?

A web session will automatically close after 30 minutes of inactivity. Alternatively, you can click the Logout link on the main navbar under Session.

What is the maximum file size?

The total size of the Qwantum Private Message and optional File Attachment cannot exceed 30 MB.

Can I protect and send more than 1 attachment at a time?

Only 1 attachment can be sent with any given private message. However, Qwantum Private Messaging does support protecting and sending zip files or PDF binders.

Can I protect and send more than text?

Yes. Qwantum Private Messaging allows the sender to include private file attachments.

What is a Qwantum Private Message Token?

This text is the actual, self-encapsulated message token. This is the encrypted or protected information that will become the unprotected or clear-text message once an Authentic Card or Guest Token is used to grant access to the Qwantum Private Message.

Private Message Tokens can be set to generate a Read Receipt. When set, and the Private Message Token is Viewed, the creator will receive an email notification indicating when it was viewed.

Private Messages can be set to Require Location Data. When set, and the Private Message Token is used, the creator has the option to prevent the viewing of the Private Message Token unless the recipient’s browser provides geo-location data indicating where the Private Message Token is viewed. The creator will receive an email notification indicating where it was used and when it was used. (See FAQ re: VPN)

Private Message Tokens can be provisioned to the Apple Wallet.

What is a Qwantum Guest Token?

The Qwantum Guest Token is like a door key, but it’s a token generated by a Club Member that can be shared with and used by a Non-Club Member to View a Private Message or Create a Private Message. Guest Tokens can be created for One-Time Use, One-Time Use with a Time-bound Expiration, a set number of uses, or a set number of days. Guest Tokens will automatically Expire after a maximum life of 30 days. The creator of a Guest Token can revoke it at any time.

Guest Tokens can be set to generate a Read Receipt. When set, and the Guest Token is used, the creator will receive an email notification indicating when it was used.

Guest Tokens can be set to Require Location Data. When set, and the Guest Token is used, the creator has the option to prevent the use of the Guest Token unless the recipient’s browser provides geo-location data indicating where the Guest Token is used. Guest Tokens can be set to Require a Phone Code. When set, the creator of the Guest Token designates a Mobile # where the Phone Code will be sent by text message each time the Guest Token is used. Without this Phone Code, the Guest Token will not work. Phone Codes expire in 60 seconds.

Guest Tokens can be restricted to decrypt a specific Private Message by Transaction ID.

Guest Tokens can be configured to send a private message back to the Qwantum Member.

If the Private Message is sent to multiple recipients and Guest Tokens are needed, it is considered a best practice to create separate Guest Tokens for each recipient.

Guest Tokens can be provisioned to the Apple Wallet.

Can I configure a Guest Token to send a private message back to the Qwantum Member where I also get to designate the return email Subject line along with a CC and/or BCC distribution list?

Yes. Guest Tokens can be configured with advanced Message Options. This feature allows the return email message to pre-fill and lock the Subject Line, CC, BCC, and Custom Field List.

How do I create Custom Fields within Message Options??

The Custom Fields input box will take a string of data. Each field you want to include in the return email message should be included and spelled as you wish. Separate multiple Field Names with a comma (no spaces) - ex First,Last,Phone. Placing an asterisk at the end of the Field Name will make that field a required field in the return email message - ex First*,Last*,Phone*.

Is there a limit to the number of Custom Fields I can create?

Yes. Each Guest Token - Email can have up to 100 Custom Fields defined.

Can I assign a Token Display name to a Guest Token?

Yes. The Token Display Name will be added to the Token Created receipt. It will also be added to the QR Code generated when displaying the Guest Token. For best results, the Token Display Name should not exceed 35 characters in length since it appears as a label on the QR Code.

Can I copy and paste a Guest Token that includes its label?

Yes. Guest Tokens delivered by Qwantum Private Messaging are formatted so the user can easily copy and paste the entire Guest Token, including its label. The system will auto-parse the necessary Guest Token data.

What is a Qwantum Member Token?

The Member Token is like a master door key that is meant to be used by the Club Member when they do not have their Qwantum Card and Qwantum Reader handy. The Member Token can be used to perform most functions within Qwantum Private Messaging, except to generate other Member Tokens.

Member Tokens always require a Phone Code that is automatically sent to the Member’s Mobile #. Without this Phone Code, the Member Token will not work. Phone Codes expire in 60 seconds.

Member Tokens can be created for One-Time Use/Session, One-Time Use/Session with a Time-bound Expiration, a set number of uses/sessions, or a set number of days. Member Tokens will automatically Expire after a maximum life of 365 days. The creator of a Member Token can revoke it at any time.

Member Tokens can be provisioned to the Apple Wallet.

Can I copy and paste a Member Token that includes its label?

Yes. Member Tokens delivered by Qwantum Private Messaging are formatted so the user can easily copy and paste the entire Member Token, including its label. The system will auto-parse the necessary Member Token data.

What is a .qtm File?

A .qtm file is a file extension given to an attachment that has been protected by Qwantum Private Messaging. This file extension indicates the file is protected and cannot be viewed until an authorized party provides an Authentic Card or Guest Token granting access to the unprotected file.

What is a File Signature?

A File Signature is a one-way, cryptographically calculated value that allows a user to verify the authenticity of any clear text or encrypted file.

What is UKPT?

UKPT is an abbreviation for Unique Key per Transaction.

What is Authentication?

Authentication is the process or action of proving or showing something to be true, genuine, unaltered or valid. Qwantum Cards are always authenticated when used and can never be copied, counterfeited, or altered.

What is Qwantum Authentication Codes (QAC)?

Qwantum Authentication Codes are based on the principles of Quantum Physics. They morph with every use. Just touch the card and its Qwantum output will change.

What is a Qwantum Secure Card?

Qwantum Secure Cards are unique authentication cards that have no personally identifiable information PII, prevent the use of fraudulent copies, and emit a unique and dynamic Qwantum Authentication Code every time they are swiped or glided. These features create a unique and secure authentication token that can be used in a variety of secure-transaction and/or user-ID systems. The Qwantum Card creates a bridge between the physical world and the digital world making it extremely difficult for threat-actors to perform an online attack.

What happens if a counterfeit card is detected?

Qwantum Secure Cards cannot be copied. If a counterfeit card is detected, a message will display indicating the "Qwantum Card Failed to Authenticate" and access to the service will be denied.

What is PII?

PII is an abbreviation that means Personally Identifiable Data.

Can a Virtual Private Network (VPN) alter the Geo Location Data provided by the browser that is communicating with Qwantum Private Messaging?

Geo Location Data is provided by the browser that is communicating with Qwantum Private Messaging. An active Virtual Private Network (VPN) hides the actual location and IP address and can assign a temporary location and IP address to the user of Qwantum Private Messaging.

How is Session Timeout managed with Qwantum Private Messaging?

Qwantum Private Messaging does not follow a typical Login/Logout paradigm. There is no static username and password. Instead, certain actions require dynamic authentication of a user and their credential to start a web session (Glide Card or use a Member Token). Web sessions will auto timeout after 30 minutes of browser inactivity. If the web session expires, the user will be prompted to re-authenticate and any data previously typed on screen will be erased. The purpose for following this model is to limit the risk of leaving an idle browser session open to compromise.

Are there any known issues with Qwantum Readers working with remote workspace-sharing applications such as Microsoft Teams?

Qwantum Readers are designed to connect to a local host system via USB. Card data can become corrupted when the Qwantum Reader is connected to a local host via USB, but the browser communicating with Qwantum Private Messaging is being accessed through a workspace-sharing application such as Microsoft Teams.

Does Qwantum Private Messaging work with the Apple Wallet?

Yes. Qwantum Private Messages, Member Tokens and Guest Tokens can be stored in the Apple Wallet. This allows the Member to easily organize and access Private Messages, Member Tokens and Guest Tokens.

How do I use a Member Token with the Apple Wallet?

Member Tokens contain a QR code that can be scanned and a hyperlink that can be clicked. Both will auto-launch your default browser and load your Member Token into the browser. This greatly simplifies the process of using a Member Token.

Is there a size limit to creating a Private Message Token that will be saved to the Apple Wallet?

Yes. Private Message Tokens saved to the Apple Wallet must not exceed 400 characters and cannot have encrypted file attachments.
